The kids are finally all in bed--if not quite yet sleeping.
The house is quiet.
It's me time.
Time to feed my addictions:
Books
and
Chocolate
Tonight I'm thinking about the difference between Mr. Linton and Mr. Earnshaw.
Both lost their wives before their time.
Both were left with brand new babies.
One turned to drink and gambling, leaving his son symbolically (and eventually literally) fatherless.
The other poured himself into raising his daughter. Though permanently altered by his tragic experience, he recovered and was ultimately the better for it.
We all have agency to choose how we will react to our circumstances.
I choose to be a Mr. Linton.
